Applying Behavior Insights to Efficiency Programs: Lessons from the Social SciencesMay 11, 2010 2:00-3:30pm Eastern Facilitator: Kira Ashby,
CEE What's It About? The CEE Behavior Committee and CEE staff have recently completed an overview of insights and tools related to behavior change gathered from across social science disciplines such as psychology, sociology, and public health. The new tool is the product of the CEE Behavior Committee members working together and pooling observations and experiences. This session will provide participants with an overview of behavior-related insights and tools that have evolved from research in a variety of social science disciplines. Many of these tools and insights are being using to inform or guide behavior change efforts in other disciplines such as public health, some are already being incorporated into efficiency programs, and all have implications for improving program outcomes for the energy efficiency industry. This overview will be followed by series of very brief presentations from CEE members with programs that are applying one or more of these behavior insights. What is Ask the Experts? This webinar is part of the Ask the Experts series of free workshops presented in webinar format to help new or prospective efficiency program administrators tackle specific energy efficiency program issues. The format is both informative and interactive, so be sure to bring your questions. Who Should Attend? Ask the Experts is open to new administrators of energy efficiency programs, state regulators, and employees of CEE members. Contractors and consultants are currently excluded. Others may participate by personal invitation of CEE. The target audience for this session is program administrators interested in obtaining a rapid, broad overview of insights into human behavior that could be useful in planning efficiency efforts, as well as how CEE members have already begun incorporating these insights into their programs. While this session is designed to lay out key concepts that may be useful to anyone looking to learn more about applying behavior insights to energy efficiency, participants without a social science background will benefit most. This session may be particularly useful for members planning to attend the CEE Summer Program Meeting session of the same name, as this webinar will provide a more in-depth overview of the behavior insights, while the June in-person session will focus on examples of programs applying these insights. . |
