As new federal standards become effective, efficiency programs are beginning to offer advanced programs to capture savings (including SSL, controls, design, and systems approaches). These more comprehensive program approaches no longer focus on one-for-one lamp and fixture replacements and thus, pose challenges for lighting industry stakeholders who are uncertain about future program direction. Attendees of this session will learn more about the trends driving these changes in program design and consider two models for more comprehensive lighting programs (one commercial, one residential) created by CEE staff for purposes of discussion at the meeting. Then, participants will work together to identify how these models could be tailored to engage 4 different customer types that offer large potential energy savings across CEE member service territories. The discussion will help members proactively plan for upcoming changes in the lighting industry and deliver more successful programs to their customers. Industry representatives will also gain valuable insight on how they can continue to engage with—and actively participate in—the next generation of lighting efficiency programs.
