Industrial Motors and Drives Webinar

Fundamentals of Premium Efficiency Motor Program Design

March 27, 2008 2:00-3:30 Eastern

Facilitated by Ted Jones, CEE Industrial Program Manager

This event is part of the Ask the Experts series of free workshops presented in webinar format to help new or prospective efficiency program administrators tackle energy efficiency program issues in depth. Hear from top program administrators about how they approached designing effective motor and drive programs, what worked, and what lessons they learned. The format is both informative and interactive so be sure to bring your questions.

What's It About?

Premium efficiency motors and variable speed drives (VSDs) are a good starting point for new industrial energy efficiency programs. They are quick to get off the ground, offer measurable benefits in the near-term, and serve as an excellent starting point to identify larger savings opportunities. In 2007, 48 CEE members offered financial, technical and educational support for a range of motor and drive-related measures from "point of purchase" equipment upgrades to large scale retrofit and new construction projects.

Get your questions answered at this webinar along with an overview of motor and drive program design from program administrators who've been there. Find out how other motor and drive programs are structured, and learn more about the results that can be expected from these programs. Hear how motor and drive programs help support broader industrial program goals.

Who Should Attend?

Industrial program planners, designers and implementers with 0-3 years of experience will gain understanding of key considerations for industrial program planning.

Session Agenda

During the first half of this webinar a panel of experts will give a brief overview of their motor and drive efficiency programs, including key assumptions, objectives, and supporting market research during the early stages of their programs. The panel will highlight program results, important lessons learned and refinements/enhancements over time. The second half of the webinar, will be dedicated to a questions and answer period and facilitated discussion.

Experts

Bob Zaragoza, Portfolio Manager in Business DSM Marketing at Xcel Energy
Xcel Energy administers motor and drive efficiency programs to industrial customers in Minnesota (since 1994) and Colorado (since 2005). Under these programs, Xcel Energy offers prescriptive and custom incentives for new motors and motor replacement (1-200 HP) and variable frequency drives.

Cherie Miles, Program Manager for Energy Efficiency, C&I Implementation at NSTAR Electric & Gas
NSTAR has administered motor and drive efficiency programs in metropolitan Boston and Eastern Massachusetts since 1998. NSTAR offers prescriptive rebates for premium-efficiency motors, (1-200HP). NSTAR also offers prescriptive incentives for VSDs used in nine specific applications, ranging in size from 5 to 100 hp.
