Residential Appliance Basics: Mail-in Rebates, Marketing, and Retailer Training

2:00–3:30 Eastern, August 13, 2008
Facilitator: Eileen Eaton
Experts: Lisa Pucelik, Alliant Energy; Kari Reid, BC Hydro; Teresa Daviés, San Diego Gas & Electric

What's It About?

This webinar was the first in a series on residential appliances. Starting with the basics of running an appliance program, we looked at the advantages and disadvantages of using mail-in rebates to promote various appliances. In designing your program, you'll want to consider what efficiency levels to use, especially with regard to managing free ridership. New program administrators who have not run an appliance program found this webinar useful. Participants should have had a general working knowledge of appliances and their distribution channels.

Future sessions in this series will likely cover topics like appliance recycling and working with the Save More platform. So stay tuned!

What is Ask the Experts?

This event is part of the Ask the Experts series of free workshops presented in webinar format to help new or prospective efficiency program administrators tackle energy efficiency program issues in depth. Hear from top program administrators about how they approached designing effective residential gas heating programs, what worked, and what lessons they learned. The format is both informative and interactive, so be sure to bring your questions.
