Whole Building Program Summary

CEI and EMIS Program Summary

The overall goal of CEE’s Whole Building Performance exploration is to develop the bi-national infrastructure to encourage and enable effective implementation of whole-building commercial energy-efficiency programs.

2011 COMMITTEE OBJECTIVES

  • To advance whole building and energy management program design through exploration of the potential role of energy management and information solutions in energy efficiency programs

  • To support CEE member uptake of whole building benchmarking

  • To work closely with ENERGY STAR® and other government and industry partners to support member whole building performance programs

PAST WORK PRODUCTS & DEVELOPMENTS

CEE's early work focused on existing office commercial buildings and harmonizing with the ENERGY STAR® Buildings program. CEE's Commercial Building Performance Committee produced:

  1. A Commercial Whole-Building Energy Performance Goal (consistent with ENERGY STAR® targets) and a set of Attributes and Indicators of Whole-Building Energy Performance
  2. A Whole-Building Performance Program Model that ties in relevant national programs such as ENERGY STAR and is compatible with existing commercial program portfolios
  3. Worked with the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) to develop content for the BOMA Energy Efficiency Program (BEEP). Click here for additional information about the BEEP.

CURRENT WORK PRODUCTS

In June 2011, CEE published a detailed summary of programs piloting or implementing programs using a continuous energy improvement approach or leveraging energy management and information systems. CEE plans to add to this program summary as research on these program approaches continues.
