Commercial ice-makers represent approximately 11 percent of all commercial refrigeration energy use. CEE currently has a specification for Air-Cooled and
Water-Cooled Ice Cube Machine. The water savings potential by using the CEE specification can be substantial; especially since water cooled units are only
recommended for installation on a closed loop system as opposed to an open loop system where fresh water is continuously used. The energy savings can vary
from 10 - 20% depending upon the type of machine as well as the tier level promoted.
