Savings Impacts from CEE's U.S.and Canadian Member Programs

In addition to the budget data, CEE also collected information about the impacts of CEE's member programs in the US and Canada. To protect confidentiality, the results have been aggregated by region for the US and nationally for Canada.

Notes, caveats and sources for the savings impacts data

The following tables are available:

HIGHLIGHTS OF THE DATA

In 2006, CEE member’s energy efficiency programs across the U.S. and Canada saved 59,800 GWh of electricity, 162.6 million therms of gas, and abated more than 36 million metric tonnes of CO2, up from 29 million metric tonnes in 2005.

This is equivalent to:

  • Taking 7.9 million passenger cars off the road for one year, or
  • Growing more than 30 million acres of pine or fir forests over one year, or
  • Enough energy to power over four and half million homes with electricity or over a hundred thousand homes with gas for one year.

In 2006, US and Canadian consumers saved $5.4 billion as a result of CEE members' programs.
