2009 DataThe ratepayer-funded energy efficiency industry continued its vibrant growth in 2009. The combined total of U.S. and Canadian energy efficiency program budgets for both electric and gas programs exceeded $6 billion, up from $4.5 billion in 2008. U.S. ratepayer funded efficiency program budgets reported by survey respondents have more than doubled since 2006, when CEE first began collection data on budgets of ratepayer funded energy efficiency programs and related savings impacts for the United States. Canadian budgets have grown by more than 40 percent since CEE added Canadian data in 2007. New features for 2009 include prior year expenditures, total of savings impacts from all responding organizations as well as CEE members, and budget and expenditure data by organization. Erratum
Each year, CEE makes state and provincial data tables available to the public. The 2009 results are available as a detailed report including numerous charts and tables that describe the findings at the national, state, and provincial level. In addition, for the first time we include expenditures data and are making available budget and expenditure data by organization where permitted. These pages include links to the 2009 report and other detailed information for 2009 and prior years. If you are a member and would like to have graphics from the report for your presentations, please contact Sarah Griffith. Budgets and Expenditures Data
Major contributors to this year’s data collection effort were the American Gas Association and the Institute for Electric Efficiency. Joining forces with these organizations eliminated duplication of effort by all three organizations, reduced the reporting burden for respondents, and enlarged the sample pool. CEE, with the collaboration of AGA and IEE, now provides the most current and most comprehensive data available specific to the energy efficiency program industry.
