GO-TO ENERGY EFFICIENCY BEHAVIOR DOCUMENT PUBLISHED

SEPTEMBER 22, 2017

CEE Behavior Insights and Tools Now Public

For the first time, the CEE Behavior Committee is releasing a public copy of their foundational framework, CEE Behavior Insights and Tools.

First drafted in 2010 and since updated to include additional findings and connected technologies, this document is the seminal analysis of social science research principles and their application to efficiency programs. CEE members have deployed this framework to increase savings, expand non-energy benefits, and inform program evaluation.

The current version offers:

  • Detailed behavioral techniques that can enhance the energy savings opportunities of connected technologies
  • An overview of 40+ behavioral social science principles, including examples of how these approaches are already used in energy efficiency programs
  • Fourteen detailed case studies of energy efficiency programs incorporating these techniques

You may find these behavioral techniques useful to improve programs across all sectors: residential, commercial, and industrial.

If you'd like to know more, or get involved in the efforts to understand behavioral persistence and encourage regulatory acceptance of behavior programs, visit the CEE Behavior Committee and consider joining.

About CEE
CEE is an award-winning consortium of efficiency program administrators from the United States and Canada. Members work to unify program approaches across jurisdictions to increase the success of efficiency in markets. By joining forces at CEE, individual electric and gas efficiency programs are able to partner not only with each other, but also with other industries, trade associations, and government agencies. Working together, administrators leverage the effect of their ratepayer funding, exchange information on successful practices and, by doing so, achieve greater energy efficiency for the public good.
