Budget and impact details from the CEE Annual Industry Report for 2008 are now available online. This year’s Web report presents the data behind a remarkable number: U.S. and Canadian efficiency budgets reached $4.5 billion USD!
Total efficiency budgets in the United States reached $3.74 billion, increasing 18 percent over last year, and Canadian budgets increased 32 percent to $768 million. Several states and provinces, including New Mexico, Alberta, Illinois, Ohio, Florida, Ontario, Arizona, Vermont, British Columbia, and Arkansas saw dramatic growth, while others, such as Québec, California, Massachusetts, and New York kept up the high level of work seen in previous years.
The Web site lists data by state and province across sectors. Both efficiency programs and load management programs are detailed. Data by fuel type is included, and, where possible, EM&V numbers are broken out. The efficiency program industry is making an impact, both economically and environmentally.
