CEE Premium Efficiency Motors List Introduced

April 2010, Boston, MA—The CEE Board of Directors has approved a new resource to support members with motor incentive programs - the CEE Premium Efficiency Motors List (Motors List). This resource includes 633 motors with efficiencies higher than new federal minimum standards scheduled to take effect in December.

CEE Motors ListThe Motors List is available on the CEE web site and will be updated twice annually (March and September).

The List was developed by the CEE Motors & Motor Systems (M&MS) Committee through its exploration of motor energy efficiency above the current CEE Premium Efficiency Motors Specification levels. The Energy Independence and Security Act (EISA), establishes new minimum standards for 1-200 hp motors that are equivalent to the current CEE specification level. Approximately 50 CEE members reference the CEE specification levels in their programs. The CEE Motors List is intended to assist members as they transition to new motor-related program strategies.

The CEE Premium Efficiency Motors Initiative also includes a Guidance Specification for 250 -500 hp general motors. EISA will establish new federal minimum efficiency standards for these motors; however the new minimum standards are at a level below the CEE Guidance Specification. No changes to the CEE Guidance Specification are planned at this time.
