 CEE
members were well-represented among the 89 organizations at the
17th annual ENERGY STAR® Awards. The ceremony, held on March 31, 2009
at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel, showcased efforts to reduce the impact
of climate change through energy efficiency. |
The
ceremony offered attendees an opportunity to hear from various
speakers such as Bill Ritter, Jr., Governor of Colorado. Governor Ritter
delivered the Partner Keynote, addressing topics such as how Colorado
has made its support of energy efficiency and renewable energy a win-win
issue for Colorado’s economic development and how the National Renewable Energy Laboratory—located in Golden, Colorado—has
partnered with various Colorado state universities. |

This year, eight CEE members were recognized with an ENERGY STAR Award for Sustained Excellence, which distinguishes organizations that have shown long-term leadership and commitment to better the environment through energy efficiency. After receiving the award in 2008, six members were recognized once again this year: Austin Energy, CenterPoint Energy, NYSERDA, Oncor, Southern California Edison, and Wisconsin Focus on Energy. Joining them were National Grid and Pacific Gas and Electric, both 2008 Partners of the Year. We congratulate these members for their achievement over many years of effort.
