The Climate Protection Partnerships Division of EPA is inviting technology nominations for Climate Choice recognition. Climate Choice is a voluntary partnership program that recognizes emerging and advanced technologies with the potential to significantly reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Nominations will be accepted through December 1, 2008.
Criteria for Consideration
To be considered for Climate Choice recognition, technologies must meet the following criteria:
- Commercially available, but not widely adopted
- Offered by more than one company
- Demonstrated environmental performance
- Likely to significantly reduce greenhouse gases at competitive costs
- Does not unduly increase other forms of pollution in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions
- The technology is adequately financed and suppliers have an established business record
Evaluation & Technology Selection
The U.S. EPA Climate Protection Partnerships Division will assemble expert panels comprised of internal and external stakeholders in three areas: residential energy efficiency, commercial & industrial energy efficiency, and renewable energy. Technology nominations are evaluated in four areas:
- Environmental benefits
- Technology readiness
- Company information
- Third party testing and validation
With the advice of this panel, EPA will select three to five finalists.
Submission Instructions
All applications must include a cover letter and a completed application form. Electronic submissions are preferred. As the expert panel will not be able to conduct on-site visits, applicants are encouraged to submit supporting materials including technical descriptions, news clippings, and detailed third party studies. Please note that all submissions are final and neither the application nor supporting materials will be returned.
E-mail submissions may be sent here.
