The Lighting for Tomorrow 2005 catalog – written by CEE and the other project organizers, and designed by the Graphics and Multimedia Design Dept. of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory – won a 2006 Communicator Award for excellence in print media.

The Communicator Awards is an international awards competition founded by communication professionals to recognize excellence in the communication field. Winners come from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries.

Lighting for Tomorrow, a lighting fixture and technology design competition, is organized by CEE, the American Lighting Association (ALA) and the U.S. Department of Energy (represented by PNNL). Launched in 2002, it encourages and recognizes excellence in the design of energy-efficient residential lighting fixtures. Twenty-five CEE members sponsored the 2005 competition.

In 2005, the competition’s specific objectives focused on indoor and outdoor fixture families as well as innovative designs that address technical barriers to efficient lighting.

The catalog is an integral part of Lighting for Tomorrow's plan to market the 2005 winners. It contains color photos of all winners and finalists in the competition as well as important information about ENERGY STAR programs, new technologies and color rendering. There is also a section for lighting showrooms and homebuilders.

Thousands of copies of the catalog were distributed to retailers and builders in late 2005 and early 2006.
