The Emerging Technologies Collaborative takes on the rapid pace of change in product development, implications of the Internet of Things, and pressure to change the business of delivering energy benefits by systematically identifying, prioritizing, and advancing consideration of emerging opportunities.

In 2017, the ETC continued to refine its approach and enhance the resources members rely on for leveraging each other’s assessments of emerging opportunities and building a common understanding of emerging binational program priorities.

  • Completed investigations of high interest emerging technologies in order to accelerate individual and industry consideration, reduce development time, and document the basis for investing in particular opportunities. In 2017, the ETC completed investigations of manufactured homes (opportunity not ripe), remote energy data analysis tools for small and medium businesses (recommended to SEM Committee), and commercial heat pump water heaters (continuing in 2018 with a focus on multifamily applications).
